Even if I was to live one thousand and one nights in Elysium Resort & Spa, it wouldn’t be enough for this place, their hospitality and the perfect aesthetics of the whole setting! But all good things eventually come to an end, leaving behind beautiful memories and also, rich photographic material to remind of them forever! What do you think? Shall we travel together??
It was Monday afternoon when I reached Rhodes and after I rented a car for the week I would spend in the island, I headed straight towards the hotel, being exhausted from the journey. When I saw Elysium from outside, the only expression I could rattle out was WOW! It was the first thing that came to my mind when I laid eyes on this behemoth luxurious hotel establishment. So wow that I was ashamed of entering, as untidy and tired as I was from the journey.
What can I say, 5 stars are very few, it is worthy of 10 for sure!
So after I entered the reception (I didn’t take of my sunglasses being a diva and hiding the dark circles), I said the name of the reservation. One moment, they said, your reservation will take place in the reception of the elite club! Hey what’s that? Elite club? Here we are! They escorted me on the 2nd floor where there was a special reception (until the check in procedure completes, they offer you water or champagne… suuuucks!!!) .
But I still hadn’t figured out anything, until the bellboy came to help me carry my luggage and direct me towards my room. I gave him my card-key and then I saw it in his eyes, I realized by his expression until he confessed himself: “You have a very nice room, the best in the floor!”.
I entered the room and then everything got clear! A huge double space suite, which offered a view of the sea, from every point of the room. Magic! When the bellboy left, I started acting like a fool due to my excitement. It’s the best room I’ve been to in my whole life, by every aspect, and trust me, I’ve been in many 5*. The outer future had been specified as bright!!! My dream room for the next two days.
On the table there was a platter with snacks and an icy bottle of white wine for welcome. Just what I needed! A glass of icy white wine with a view of the big blue and not only that. The room offered a view of the pool as well, with a huge balcony to sit and enjoy the moon and the light that successively changed in the pool, but also, the colours of the sky as the night was falling… I got confused! Actually, with such a view, you didn’t know where to look first. An extravagant view, as a friend would say! My eyes couldn’t get enough.
Absolute relaxation. After a bottle of wine and being drunk by the view, it was time for a nap, but first a shower to wash away all the journey’s fuss. The bathroom was as big as my bedroom in my house, no kidding! But the best part was the bathtub which could be turned into a jacuzzi! So I grabbed the shower gel, poured it all into the bathtub and “splash” in the water.
And somehow, the first day came to an end and the second day started full of energy and joyfulness! And which was the first thing I did when I woke up? Of course sending you a photo through my Facebook page The Crazy Suitcase by Aliki Makri for this perfect place, as a proper travel blogger!
But I think I got hungry and the breakfast is served until 11, so hurry up for a buffet raid! Breakfast was served especially for the 2nd floor rooms, where elite club was, on the hotel’s last floor on the rooftop, and of course I got there ten to eleven, that’s why you’ll see that the space is a little bit private.
The buffet was packed, but the breakfast included a whole honeycomb which provided honey straight from its source and it stole the show. I’ve never seen a breakfast like that and it was really impressive, and most of all, healthy! And since I had got at least 1 kilo heavier with all the stuff I devoured, I ended up gazing at the sea view, while I was drinking my fredo straight.
“Good morning beautiful world!”, I wanted to scream from my balcony! The sun was in the middle of the sky, the sea was vast and deep blue, the breeze smelled like brine and coolness, we are blessed people after all (at least from a natural aspect). We have all these beautiful islands in our country, for others they are like exotic destinations. Rhodes, our Rhodes, seems to be like Bali, to English and Germans. There is NO place like summer in Greece!
But I shouldn’t waste my time in chattering and fooling around. The hotel is perfect for walks and lots of selfies, but I have a huge pool waiting for me and a crystal clear sea lying at my feet that I definitely have to take advantage of. Time is flowing like water and the hours go by like seconds in this little paradise.
Oh my, more than half a day has already went by and I start feeling a bit blue, because tomorrow I have to leave this heaven on earth. It’s so unfair because all good things end so soon. But I’m not daunted, I have a whole night through and the hotel provides so many choices for drink and food. Let’s go get something to eat, to get energy for the night!
Elite club’s dinner is served at the rooftop, escorted by the wonderful view of the full moon. A cool drink in the beach bar is must for digestion, especially tonight that the night includes live music by a wonderful band, I didn’t know them, but they played really well!
And so came the day that I had to make my farewells and leave Elysium Resort & Spa and spread my wings for new adventures, but before that, I’ll have to say goodbye to my little paradise in a proper way, with zen and cool spirits. That’s why I will dedicate the remaining time to a delightful spa in the hotel’s Serenity Spa. I couldn’t have made a better choice, trust me!
Elysium Resort & Spa you were a great delightful experience, I lived and felt your approachable luxury, I tasted the comforts you provided me and I got relaxed in the comforts of your hospitality. You proved to be more than my expectations. You were and you will be a little summer heaven on earth in my life’s experiences. I wish I see you soon and visit you again, why not, next year in the summer. One time is never enough!
In the end I’d like to give my special thanks to Mr. Thanasis Tougountzoglou (General Manager) and Mr. Giannis Fotis (Head of Marketing and eCommerce) who made my visit so special.
